History, Culture & Archaeology
Dunshauglin Self Catering Cottages are an excellent base for touring The Boyne Valley, Dublin City and environs and Counties Wicklow and Kildare. County Meath is one of the most historic regions in Ireland. It contains many ancient monuments including the great Neolithic passage tombs of the Boyne at Newgrange, Knowth, Dowth, and Loughcrew. The early Christian site at the Hill of Slane are all less than 30 minutes away.
The Hill of Tara is approximately 6kms from the cottages. The lovely market town of Trim is less than 20 minutes away where you can visit the Anglo-Norman St John’s Castle and other medieval churches and tower-houses.

There are many golf courses nearby and the cottages overlook Black Bush 27 hole golf course. Ashbourne, Royal Tara, Trim, Navan and Headfort are within 30 minutes drive. Tee times can be arranged.
The 2011 home of The Ladies Soldheim Cup, Kileen Castle Golf Club is 6 kms from the cottages.

Today Tattersalls is an international firm offering thousands of horses each year at many sales in Newmarket in Britain and at Fairyhouse in Ireland. The Company is renowned for selling top class National Hunt horses in which it continues to lead the field. Our cottages are conveniently located to Tattersalls Sales Complex where several sales are held throughout the year including the famous Derby Sale which takes place at the end of June.
